It is amazing what's going on in this small town! There's almost no day of the week passing without having the chance of listening and dancing to live music somewhere. There's music at Las Ruinas restaurant, Amigo's restaurant, Oasis hotel, Baru restaurant, The Rock restaurant.....you can dance to the music of local latin jazz bands, rock-blues, oldies but goodies...take line-dancing or Merengue lessons....and then there's also a lively arts and theatre scene...it's like the natural beauty of the Chiriqui highlands is inspiring an amazing amount of talent! All this will culminate in the annual Flower Festival in January, and the Boquete Jazz&Blues Festival in March....come here and get experienced!
I'm sure there are a number of people visiting this website who have attended one of the last 5 Boquete Jazz Festivals. If you're one of those please consider writing a review on the Trip Advisor Boquete page. Just click on the link below and go to "Write review". This will help us tremendously to get better ratings. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g298424-Activities-Boquete.html 3rd edition of "Sunday Morning in the Park" free concerts coming up on Oct. 9, 10am - 12 noon9/17/2011
The Boquete Jazz&Blues Foundation invites all music lovers to the next edition of free concert series "Sunday Morning in the Park" in Boquete. Performing artist will be Champaña, a solo artist from Panama City who was trained in the US and has played (among others) with Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson, and had shows at the Blue Note and the Village Gate in NYC. Presently he is playing with the Panamanian band Zuwira. We're proud to have him as a solo artist in performing in Boquete Central Park on Oct. 9th.
So there's another one of the all-time blues greats up there in blues heaven now. Sooo sad to hear the news of Willie's passing yesterday! I had the priviledge of meeting and hanging out with him several times at the Lucerne/Switzerland blues festival together with Bob Stroger....what a gentle, humble man he was, and an absolute master in his art! RIP Willie! And keep jammin' with your old pals Muddy Waters, Pinetop Perkins, and all the other greats!
We're exited to announce that the well-known pioneer of black female jazz artists Betty Bryant will be performing at the Boquete Jazz&Blues Festival 2012. At age 82 Betty is still performing in L.A. as well as in Tokyo, Japan. Check out her music and bio at her website http://bettybryant.com

The Boquete Jazz&Blues foundation's second free concert in the park suffered a bit by the early rain on Sunday morning but it was still enjoyed by everybody who attended. Local singer/songwriters Loló Ledezma (solo) and Alcides Fuentes (with band) gave their best and continued to play even after the rain thinned out the attending crowd.
The third edition of the free concert series will take place on Oct. 9th from 10am - 12 noon. Performing artists will be Panama City's well known solo artist Champaña on acoustic guitar. This Panamanian born guitarist trained in the U.S. and has had a long career that has included performing as a Broadway road show pit musician in Godspel and Pippin, playing with Dizzy Guillespie, Branford Marsallis, and Wynton Marsallis, Cassandra Wilson, Carlos Garnett and playing at the Blue Note and Village Gate in N.Y.C. We're delighted by the news that Chicago based Bob Stroger was just recently awarded the title of most outstanding blues bass player in 2011 by the prestigious 'Living Blues' magazine. This adds up to Bob's previous Blues Awards as best Blues bass player in 2009 and 2010. We're extremely pleased of having this great bluesman playing at the Boquete Jazz & Blues Festival in March 2012!
The musical activities going on in our small town of Boquete are really amazing! Every week there's live music in restaurants and hotels somewhere in the city. Be it Las Ruinas, The Oasis, the Bistro, the Rock restaurant or the Baru restaurant - you can be sure to find live shows somewhere, not to speak of disco sounds at La Cabana or the Zanzibar! In addition, there are the free Sunday morning in the Park concerts on the second Sunday of each month. There are at least three different expat bands in town now plus some solo acts and a number of Panamanian artists covering a wide array of musical styles. Jazzin' babies should check out Boquete's recently formed Jazz trio (Caesar&The Day Bros.), and Paul and Jon Day's Monday evening shows at the Rock (6:30-9:30). For dancin' babies Yella&Rich's 'Anything Goes' shows at Las Ruinas are a must!
