You’re in for a special treat at the BJBF2016 garden party at the Panamonte hotel on Friday, Feb. 27: In cooperation and with support from the Italian embassy in Panama we were able to book the Luca Ciarla Quartet for a show at the garden party! Check them out at their website www.violipiano.it/quartet
With their unusual instrumentation of violin, accordion and double bass they are creating a unique music experience! We are very happy to present this band at the Boquete Jazz&Blues Festival 2016 and we’re sure you will love them! Their show at the garden party will be their only performance at the 2016 festival.
Here's what the press is saying about them:
One of the most original Italian jazz ensembles in recent years, the Luca Ciarla Quartet has performed everywhere at an international level, from Montreal Jazz Festival to Melbourne Jazz Festival. With Carmine Ioanna on accordion, Maurizio Perrone on double bass and Francesco Savoretti on percussions, jazz violinist Luca Ciarla has developed a unique sound, giving birth to charming and irresistible compositions and arrangements, natural synthesis between contemporary jazz and the familiar sounds of the Italian folk tradition and the Mediterranean area. Their latest album, ViolinAir, mostly recorded in Thailand during a long tour in Asia, presents original works and astonishing arrangements of classics such as A Night in Tunisia or Caravan. “…a gem of a record from a violinist who has clearly absorbed the history of his instrument from Joe Venuti to Michal Urbaniak to become very much his own man.” Duncan Heining, All About Jazz
With 115 music lovers attending, great music to dance to and lots of positive energy flowing through the room the Black&White party was another great success! People here in Boquete are clearly getting excited about the coming festival...only 5 weeks to go!
Take a look at this short clip by John Hampton, conveniently shot in B&W!
For the first time ever the Boquete Jazz&Blues Festival is getting support from the Panamanian government! The Panamanian Tourist Authority (ATP) is recognizing the high touristic importance of the festival by offering discounts of 15% on COPA flights to Panama City and David to all festival visitors.

Here is even more eye-candy of the recent Pollera show fundraiser...an album with great photos by photograher pro Jackson Ball: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=174203259602479&set=a.174209272935211&type=3&theater
You must feel sorry if you missed this great event! It was a fantastic evening...we had a full house, the tickets had sold out within 8 days. The Pollera dance show was wonderful, and when YELLA FEVER started playing afterwards there soon was no room on the dance floor to be found. The band played an incredible show, everybody was on their feet and rocked the evening away like crazy! YELLA FEVER certainly is a fever that everybody loves to have!
Our thanks go out to all the wonderful people who came and supported this fundraiser for the Boquete Jazz&Blues Festival. A big Thank You! also goes out to Anayansi Menéndez and the team of the OASIS restaurant who provided the venue without charge and created a great, festive environment for this highly memorable event.
For all those who were not able to attend this awesome event here's some eye-candy for you:
If you missed this one, you don't want to miss our Black&White fundraiser that is coming up at the Sabor restaurant on January 22nd! Tickets for $12 are on sale at Mailboxes ETC. and the Tuesday market in Boquete.
Join us for a great evening with a wonderful Pollera dance show, followed by live music by YELLA FEVER, Boquete's best Rock 'n Roll band!
