The series of free concerts in the Boquete central park is baaaaaack! Starting on Aug. 12 there'll be a free concert on the second Sunday of each month from 11am - 1 pm featuring local bands in preparation for the 2013 Boquete Jazz&Blues Festival....come and enjoy a pleasant Sunday morning in the park listening to blues, jazz, salsa, merengue....donations for the 2013 festival will be highly appreciated.
Starting the series on 8/12 will be the one and only Boquete Blues Band B3....and these guys are HOT! We had another free great concert in the Boquete central park on Sunday, Dec. 11. The Rigoberto Coba Latin Jazz quartet was better than ever. This was - musically - the best concert in the series so far, but it was quite a disappointment that most of the expat and Panamanian community in Boquete chose to ignore it! Let's hope that the turn-out will be better at the 6th free concert which will take place on January 8, 2012.
3rd edition of "Sunday Morning in the Park" free concerts coming up on Oct. 9, 10am - 12 noon9/17/2011
The Boquete Jazz&Blues Foundation invites all music lovers to the next edition of free concert series "Sunday Morning in the Park" in Boquete. Performing artist will be Champaña, a solo artist from Panama City who was trained in the US and has played (among others) with Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson, and had shows at the Blue Note and the Village Gate in NYC. Presently he is playing with the Panamanian band Zuwira. We're proud to have him as a solo artist in performing in Boquete Central Park on Oct. 9th.
The Boquete Jazz&Blues foundation's second free concert in the park suffered a bit by the early rain on Sunday morning but it was still enjoyed by everybody who attended. Local singer/songwriters Loló Ledezma (solo) and Alcides Fuentes (with band) gave their best and continued to play even after the rain thinned out the attending crowd.
The third edition of the free concert series will take place on Oct. 9th from 10am - 12 noon. Performing artists will be Panama City's well known solo artist Champaña on acoustic guitar. This Panamanian born guitarist trained in the U.S. and has had a long career that has included performing as a Broadway road show pit musician in Godspel and Pippin, playing with Dizzy Guillespie, Branford Marsallis, and Wynton Marsallis, Cassandra Wilson, Carlos Garnett and playing at the Blue Note and Village Gate in N.Y.C. |
